OAK BROOK, Ill – McDonald’s on Tuesday began interviewing potential new workers in Oregon, Washington and across the country as part of a one-day hiring spree to add as many as 50,000 new employees to its franchises in the U.S.
Those new jobs will include 650 positions in Oregon and Southwest Washington, according to company officials. There are currently 140 McDonald's franchises in this region.
People can apply at any McDonald’s location or search online, by clicking on ‘Careers’ on the company Web site.
“Do you have what it takes? Apply at your local McDonald’s today,” the company Web site urged job candidates online. "You’ve got enthusiasm, responsibility and drive. We’ve got flexible schedules, benefits and jobs that can turn into satisfying careers."

The new jobs will include crew and management positions, part-time and full-time, according to company officials.
Owner operator Don Armstrong wants to change the stigma of McDonald workers.
"I started my career as a 16-year-old in my local Mcdonald's and now I own my local Mcdonald's."
He actually owns 13 McDonald’s locally.
The average pay for a position at McDonald’s is $8.30 an hour for crew members and restaurant managers can make $50,000 a year, according to company officials.
With 200,000 Oregon’s out of work Secretary of State Kate Brown says these jobs are welcomed news.
"I would see it as an opportunity for leadership and an opportunity to put food on your table," Brown said.
McDonald's has 14,000 restaurants in the United States which currently employ 650,000 people.
McDonald’s U.S. headquarters is located in Oak Brook, Illinois.
